Company Profile
Buck Consultants
Company History
George B. Buck Sr. opened his own actuarial consulting business in New York City in 1916, the year Albert Einstein published his general theory of relativity and Woodrow Wilson was re-elected to a second term in the White House.
From its modest beginning with two employees, Buck Consultants has developed into a full-service human resources consulting powerhouse.
George Buck’s founding principles — unwavering dedication to clients, innovation, and high standards — sparked its successful growth. In 1999, PENSIONS & INVESTMENTS honored George Buck as one of its “Men of the Century.” He was cited for pioneering the application of sound actuarial principles to retirement plans. In addition, the award recognized Buck as the first consulting firm to specialize in the establishment and valuation of pension plans.
Buck Consultants is credited with a number of other firsts, including:
Establishing the first Global Employee Stock Ownership Plan
Developing the first fully integrated Health Savings Account (HSA)
Offering an innovative, first-of-its-kind severance solution
Buck’s parent company, Xerox-ACS, now operates the company as an independent subsidiary in recognition of the prestige, value, and integrity of the Buck brand name.
