Hewitt Associates is a global outsourcing and consulting firm delivering a complete range of human capital management services to companies, including HR and Benefits Outsourcing, HR Strategy and Technology, Health Care, Organizational Change, Retirement and Financial Management, and Talent and Reward Strategies.

Company History


The firm started as an insurance brokerage business, specializing in financial planning for business executives and professional people. As new services and new client needs arose, the firm quickly embraced them, so that by the 1950s, it was providing actuarial and related employee benefit and compensation services to major employers.
As the firm grew, so did the need for new offices. The first regional office opened in 1959 in Minneapolis and was quickly followed by offices in New York, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, and Dayton. In 1974, Hewitt branched into Toronto, Canada, and then into the global market, opening offices in Paris and in St. Albans outside London in 1985.
Today, Hewitt delivers services through 86 offices in 37 countries, and employs more than 13,000 associates. Our headquarters in Lincolnshire, Illinois, are not that far from the first Hewitt office started by Ted Hewitt.
