Company History
PrivateBancorp, Inc. was organized in 1989 and The PrivateBank opened for business in February 1991 in Chicago. PrivateBancorp completed its initial public offering in 1999 and used the capital to support a period of steady and consistent growth, including expansion into other Midwestern states. In 2007, The PrivateBank launched a plan to transform itself into the premier commercial middle market bank . Today, The PrivateBank operates in 10 states, has over $12 billion in assets and approximately 1,100 employees.
